Welcome to “the Tin Can”. The new performance venue from Anti-label.
This is the first live recording made there on December 1st 2006. It was the
“Let’s test it and see if all the mics work and what this room sounds like” phase of the project.
This was also the first day that this band ever played together. The bass player hadn’t even heard any of Z-luv’s music before. There were a few hours before downbeat to go over charts and try out a feel or two, but that’s it. The rest is all live. We couldn’t even mute any mics to cover mistakes because all the instruments bleed into all the mics. (Not literally bleed in case you think that there is anything weird going on. If you’re a musician, you know what I am talking about).
“Gee”, you’re probably thinking right about now as you look for a place to set the CD down, “sounds like a waste of time. Untested equipment and a band that’s never played together?
Sounds like I would rather light a firecracker in my ear. I could be done sooner that way”.
Wait…
You gotta check this out. It rocks. The band recorded 30 songs that night 20 of which will fit on this CD and that’s what we can afford to press, 1 CD.
This concert sums up what the tin can is all about. Excellence in musicianship and sound quality and supporting musicians and artists.
Providing a low cost way for an artist to get a CD, without owing people and/or record companies thousands of dollars has been a part of our vision from the beginning.
How we can help musicians make a living doing what they were made to do in the current climate of ‘the music industry’ which is not musician friendly, is the broader scope of our vision. This CD contains some of our ideas on what something like that would look like.
Here’s how the night looks. We have a well run and volunteer staffed cannery (snack bar) and have a BBQ going outside with all the trimmings. We charge no cover. We ask that you bring a love and appreciation for music, and a healthy appetite. That’s all. This has nothing to do with income level and if you can’t afford to pay anything, don’t. (except for food) Half of the food profits goes to the artist to pay them for their services instead of having the artists pay us to use our facilities (which is how it works at most places that have original music). We have a tip jar at the cannery where you can give funds to the artist if you have the ability to do so. Don’t care for the music? Don’t pay anything. No problem.
The artist is free to sell merch and art pieces and anything legal at the cannery as well.
We have one of the best sounding live rooms I’ve been in and we have 4 separate monitor mixes for the players with wireless in ear monitors. We have 16 track recording available. We have video with a 6X9 foot drop down screen. There is plenty of free parking. What could be wrong with that?

Prone to Wander CD
With velvety, ghostly, airy vocals, like a cross between Sarah McLachlan and Norah Jones, Suzanne Brewer stirs Jazz, Piano Pop and Folk in a rich, sophisticated base of heartbreak, defiance, despair and poignancy. Her songs can be shuffley and lulling, they can turn the screw in your heartbreak and they can be a breeze through your hair when everything else in life seems to be ignoring you. Prone to Wander is a arresting album of subtlety and courage, softness and power.
