my friend and i were taking a walk to the beach one day. we both had a lot on our mind. i told her what i like to do sometimes is pick out a symbolic rock or shell of whatever is on my heart and release it to the ocean. however, she had a much better idea. instead of picking just one piece of beach treasure she chose many and arranged them into a beautiful sandwoman picture letting the ocean take each piece away one by one.
an unusually beautiful february day
called for a walk to the ocean
you carried the weight of waiting
i carried the weight of goodbyes
as we reached the sapphire shore
and breathed deeply of a salty prayer
you began the process of creating
i began the end of my tears
with rocks and shells placed in the sand
it’s safe to say life looks better this way
one at a time they choose the ocean over the land
as tide pulls away and warmly welcomes change
sharing the seams of our long lost memories
we slowly let go of time
and leave the maze of analyzation
leave the mystery untied
i learned the importance of impermanence…
