Dirty Orange

(Suzanne Brewer)

the sun is dodging the clouds
revealing daylight to your waking eyes
the birds are stealing our melodies
sweeping wistful whims across the sky

if you watch the morning might
show off the green dress she wears
if you want to stay all day
and let your worries drift away

the trees are trading tricky glances
and the sky is painting patient blues
the flowers are falling thru your fingers
as the night chases away the noon

if you say so the wind will sparkle
with our words left in the air
if you want to stay all day
and imagine a holiday

the stars are sneaking off in silence
moonlight’s stirring in her sleep
black is beckoning midnight
to surround us with sweet belief

if you say so the wind will sparkle
with our words left in the air
if you follow your heart would be
happy to lead the way
